Parklands, Ladywell Fields, Lewisham
working for BDP
After a successful reinvention of the northern end of Ladywell Fields, the enhancement to the southern end of the park involved the creation of a new river channel, designed to meander through the centre of the open space, providing a focus for the park. Within this channel, various backwaters and boardwalks were installed to create varying ecological interest for both the public and wildlife. Tree avenues were strengthened and copses were created from birch, rowan and hornbeam with single specimens of oak featured amongst swathes of meadow grass. Perimeter hedgerows were reinforced and community orchards created.
