Brighton 3Ts Hospital

working for BDP

The design for this proposed new hospital in Brighton features many roof terraces to provide improved patient care as well as public realm space for local residents and visitors alike. The largest of these terraces sits above the oncology unit and provides a social area for patients and their carers as well as larger public areas incorporating lawns, sensory gardens and seating. Dense native perimeter planting provides a wind break and shade structures feature throughout. Other roof terraces feature rehabilitation gardens, staff and meeting areas. Throughout the design process factors such as access, local climate and context, safety and maintenance as well as fundamental loading issues were considered.
